Make recommendations for support services and technology that will streamline processes that enable faculty to focus on instruction.

  • More support available via the helpdesk.  Need  more staff.  Self-help FAQ for employees.
  • Work with Distance Ed. committee in determining/creating the technology support services necessary for faculty who want to put course materials in electronic format (on a web site, via the Portal, or on WebCT).  This includes providing instructors with appropriate hardware (i.e. high speed scanners), software, and training.  Training should include guidance on copyright issues and 508 compliance
  • Get support for broader use of successful technologies such as wikis, blogs, podcasting, classroom response with open source applications where warranted. Consider installing open source WikiMedia, WordPress, PHP and joining iTunesU to facilitate free and consistent applications where there is sufficient interest.

Cross-committee participation and collaboration to encourage communication.

  • Reports are given by committee liaisons at each Faculty Technology meeting.

  • Provide a showcase or best practices site to share the work and successes.

Conduct an Instructional Technology Inventory. (al)

  • A central resource for faculty to identify and locate available instructional resources.

    • New computer every three years?
